This one-of-a-kind Kiawah Island rental is decorated by the owners, a bestselling author and his wife, who is a beloved children's book reviewer. You'll feel as if you are transported back to 1950s when you walk into this cozy beach cottage and nestle into its comfy overstuffed chairs surrounded by bookshelves filled with beach reads. But cozy does not mean old fashioned. You'll find plenty of USB ports, a wireless charger for those who forget their own, two Smart TVs with all the streaming apps installed, and super-fast, Xfinity WiFi throughout.

Renters rave about the well-equipped kitchen, the painted pottery plates, the Keurig coffee maker, and the new, large capacity washer and dryer. The kitchen has been generously enlarged and updated. There are two large skylights for extra sunlight, plus the beautiful Carolina room which gives this cottage a breezy, open feel. New reupholstering, new bathroom fixtures and mirrors, new kitchen pots and pans, new linens, hand-selected art, and carefully curated beach books round it out.

The primary bedroom offers a new king bed, ensuite bath, and flat panel television. Bedroom 2 is furnished with a queen bed and bedroom 3 includes a bunk bed with a twin bed up top and full on the bottom to create a flexible sleeping space for either 2 or 3.

A large, wraparound outdoor deck starts with a pair of new Maine rockers to enjoy and there’s plenty of room to barbecue and eat on the back deck. Best of all – and certainly fun – this original Kiawah beach cottage still has its outdoor shower on the upper deck. They are an easy walk to Kiawah Island’s 10 miles of beautiful beaches. They are on the island’s bike path, and they have access to hours of family fun in the private community pool.
