The Pointe on Kiawah Island
The Pointe is a private gated enclave of 14 single-family homes on 5.3 acres along the Kiawah River, located in West Beach between Cassique and the island's main entrance gate. The neighborhood is one of Kiawah's smaller residential communities — its size and riverfront setting define its character.
Homes at The Pointe were designed by Thomas & Denzinger and built by Jay Custom Homes. The contemporary design emphasizes views of the river and marsh, with floor-to-ceiling windows that connect indoor living spaces to the water.
A private gated entry, neighborhood dock, and kayak launch are shared amenities for residents. A marshside walking and biking trail connects The Pointe to Freshfields Village in one direction and to Kiawah's Atlantic beach in the other — giving residents easy access to both without entering the main island traffic flow.

Where is The Pointe on Kiawah Island?
The Pointe sits on the Kiawah River in West Beach, between Cassique — just across the river — and the island's main security gate. The location is accessible before reaching the main Kiawah gate — putting residents close to Freshfields Village, the broader Betsy Kerrison corridor, and downtown Charleston, while still enjoying private island access.
Despite its West Beach location, The Pointe is quieter than the resort village areas. The riverfront setting and the neighborhood's small scale — 14 homes on 5.3 acres — give it a residential character that's distinct from the more active parts of West Beach.

The Homes at The Pointe
All 14 homes at The Pointe follow a consistent contemporary design by architects Thomas & Denzinger.
Each home is 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms across two floors, totaling 2,760 square feet. The design prioritizes river and marsh views — expanses of floor-to-ceiling windows and glass ensure that indoor and outdoor living spaces face the water.
Interior finishes include 10-foot ceilings on both levels, hardwood floors throughout, natural stone countertops, and a Sub-Zero / Wolf / Bosch appliance package. The exteriors feature Hardie Shake and stucco siding, standing-seam metal roofs, Bermuda shutters, and hurricane-rated windows and doors.
Optional upgrades available at the time of original construction included a three-stop elevator, pool, garden-level summer kitchen, interior and exterior fireplaces, and a spiral staircase from the screened porch to the ground floor. Buyers evaluating individual resale properties should confirm which optional upgrades are included.
Note: The specifications above are from the original developer brochure. Individual resale homes may have been modified, renovated, or upgraded since original construction. PHE agents can provide property-specific details.
Community Amenities and Trail Access
The Pointe has its own private security gate — separate from the main Kiawah Island entrance gate — giving residents a second layer of access control that reinforces the neighborhood's quiet, enclosed character. It is one of a small number of West Beach communities with dedicated gated entry beyond the island's main gate.
The community dock on the Kiawah River offers direct water access for fishing, kayaking, and exploring the tidal creeks that branch off the river toward the marsh interior.
A kayak launch makes getting on the water straightforward. The Kiawah River at this stretch of the island is tidal and calm — more suited to flat-water paddling and watching wading birds work the shallows than open-ocean conditions, which makes it accessible for a wide range of ages and experience levels.
A marshside walking and biking trail connects The Pointe in two directions without requiring residents to get in a car.
Head one way and the trail leads to Freshfields Village — the boutique shopping, dining, and services hub just outside the main Kiawah gate, with a grocery, restaurants, wine shop, and day-to-day conveniences.
Head the other way and the trail connects to Kiawah's Atlantic beach access. Both ends are reachable on foot or by bike, which is a practical amenity that not all West Beach enclaves can claim at this proximity.
Cassique and Kiawah Island Club Access
Cassique — one of the two Kiawah Island Club communities — sits just across the Kiawah River from The Pointe. For Kiawah Island Club Members who own at The Pointe, the Tom Watson-designed Cassique golf course, the Sports Pavilion, the Cassique clubhouse, and dining at Voysey's are nearby.
Some Pointe properties may be listed with the opportunity to purchase a Kiawah Island Club membership alongside the home. If membership is available, it will be noted in the listing.
Properties without a membership offering cannot have one added after the sale. Availability varies by property and should be confirmed with your PHE agent.
For a full overview of Club membership tiers and costs, see our Kiawah Island Club membership guide.
All property owners on Kiawah Island pay an annual KICA assessment, which funds island-wide amenities including the Sandcastle, bike paths, beach access, and infrastructure.
