What You’ll Experience at the Kiawah Island Nature Center

The Kiawah Island Nature Center is located in Night Heron Park. (You’ll find it next to the pool and the Night Heron Pavilion.) The center’s staff can impart interesting facts about flora and fauna in the area, and direct you to the best places for Kiawah Island wildlife sightings. You may be able to see some at the facility itself; the center hosts rotating wildlife exhibits on the grounds. Inside the building, view interactive displays that convey information about the island’s complex ecosystem.

While you’re there, you can also make reservations for the center’s nature tours and programs. There is a range of events available, including alligator tours, bird watching walks, butterfly tours, and more. Make sure you have dressed appropriately for your excursion when you visit the Island Outpost, located on the grounds of the nature center. They can equip you with proper outdoor clothing as well gifts and souvenirs.
