From Kiawah Island to Charleston - The Routes
A drive from Kiawah Island to Charleston takes approximately 45 minutes. There are two routes you can take, and each is about 30 miles long. We recommend using State Road S-10-20 for a more scenic drive.
This road takes you through the beautiful towns of Johns Island, West Ashley, and James Island before you reach your final destination downtown. Along this route you’ll see gorgeous country roads lined with large, shaded oak trees draped in Spanish moss, often referred to as the Alley of Oaks.
Another option for traveling to and from Kiawah and downtown is State Road S-10-20 to I-17. This route is a bit longer at 33 miles and will take you approximately 55 minutes. However, no matter which route you choose, you can look forward to plenty of great stops along the way!
