The weather in Charleston SC in July is hot and humid, which is perfect for a day by the water. Temperatures are an average of high 80s during the day and mid-70s at night. While you won't have to worry too much about bringing a sweater, light layers might come in handy in the evening. Be sure to bring tons of warm weather clothes, swimsuits, flip flops, a sun hat, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and sunglasses.

  • Have a Pool Day

Spend the day relaxing while you cool off at the resort pools at Kiawah Island Golf Resort or Seabrook Island Resort. With hot and humid temperatures this time of the year, afternoons are best spent near the water.

  • Go to a Charleston River Dogs Game

The Charleston River Dogs are a Minor League Baseball team in the region. The Joseph P Riley Jr. Park is in downtown Charleston, which is about 45 minutes away from Kiawah and Seabrook. This family-friendly event is the perfect way to spend a summer evening or afternoon.

  • Sunset Water Cruise

July means long summer nights that are perfect for a sunset water cruise. Bohicket Marina offers boat rentals, fishing charters, sailing tours, and more. July 4th Update

Salute from the Shore is ON:

Estimated flyover time for Kiawah & Seabrook Island's is 1:15!!

This year’s Salute will include a flyover of F-18s from Marine Aircraft Group 31 from MCAS Beaufort and a C-17 Globemaster from the 701AS, Joint Base Charleston.

The Flyover will commence at 1:00 PM from the northern end of our coastline just outside of Myrtle Beach, and will conclude over Beaufort, SC around 1:54 PM.


The 4th of July Fireworks at Patriots Point is back in 2022! Enjoy a front-row seat to the fireworks display from the shore at the Patriots Point 4th of July Blast. Patrons will enjoy live music, good eats, and a fireworks display at sunset. This event is free to attend, but parking costs $20 and there is limited availability at the museum. The event goes from 6 - 10 pm and fireworks will begin around 9:15 pm once the sun goes down.

Marion Square hosts the Charleston Farmers Market every Saturday from 8 am until 1 pm. This family-friendly event is fun for all ages and includes live music, food concessions, and over 100 local vendors. Swing by for a quick bite, or pick up your weeks’ worth of fresh veggies and produce. Enjoy handcrafted jewelry, original photography, and paintings, one-of-a-kind furniture, textiles, and more. You won’t want to miss Charleston’s most unique mix of local artisans! The Charleston Farmers Market runs from April thru November.

Second Sunday in Charleston offers an afternoon of vehicle-free, pedestrian-only exploration on King Street, which ranks as one of U.S. News & World Report’s 10 Best Shopping Streets in the U.S. This event is a great time to explore Charleston’s most widely recognized avenue whether it be strolling, shopping, dining, or enjoying live music. The event is held from 1 pm to 5 pm on the second Sunday of the month, every month.

Come celebrate this Lowcountry art form of Gullah culture at the annual Sweetgrass Festival on July 23, 2022, from 10 am to 3 pm at Mt. Pleasant Waterfront Park. Basket making in America first appeared in Mt. Pleasant in the 17th century. Slaves brought their exceptional skills from Sierra Leone to forge utilitarian vessels made from bulrush.  Materials and uses evolved over time into decorative, sought after works of art fashioned from sweetgrass. Come out and meet local artisans who will be showcasing their skills and offering demonstrations and pieces for sale.

Seabrook and Kiawah Island July 2022 Events

Kiawah Island offers events centered around Independence Day. Join us for a celebration that is sure to create lasting memories and make up for lost time last year.

  • Kiawah Island 

The July 4th Kiawah events include the Patriotic Party on the Pool Deck, the 4th of July Bike Parade, the 4th of July Festival in Night Heron Park, a Sunset Cruise, and Teen Night at the pool.

  • Seabrook Island

The Seabrook Island Club is celebrating Independence Day with its annual festivities starting July 3 with a 5k walk/run to kick off the day at 8 am, an evening fireworks display, and the 4th of July parade on Sunday. The fireworks are hosted by the town of Seabrook Island and will light up the sky at approximately 9 pm. The parade takes place on Sunday, July 4 at 9:30 am along the Seabrook Island Road Loop.

Weekly Summer Events

Pick from the freshest produce and local crafts at the weekly summer Farmer’s Market featuring local certified organic produce, fresh local seafood, packaged and prepared food including jams, jellies, pecans, olive oils, sweets, and handmade pasta, and more as well as Lowcountry crafts. Every Monday in the Summer from 4 pm until 8 pm.

Jazz Night on the Green is one of the best ongoing Freshfields Village events for music lovers. Every Thursday night from May to September features a free concert on the Village Green. You can listen to a new band each week from 6 to 9 pm at this Kiawah Island summer concert series.

  • Shag Night on the Dock

Join in on the fun every Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 pm for the Summer Snag Night Series at Freshfields Village. Learn the basics or show off your skills at the Lakeside Dock for this fun summer event.

Monday nights in July Mingo Point on Kiawah Island are the place to be!  A special July 4 holiday week party is scheduled for July 6. Join Kiawah Island Resort as they host this popular summer party featuring fresh oysters, BBQ ribs and pulled pork, smoked chicken, and delicious side dishes and desserts.  Island grooves are abundant with live music and games for the kiddos.  Hosted July 6, 11,18, 25.   • Family Bonfire Night

Join in on the fun for the Monday night bonfire at the Seabrook Island Beach Club. The bonfire takes place at 8 pm and costs $6 per person. Call 843.768.2529 for reservations.

  • Tie-Dye

On Tuesdays & Thursdays, come and get colorful with some tie-dye! Hosted at the Beach Club Pools from 3 - 4:30 pm, the tie-dye night is fun for all ages. This activity is $18 per shirt.

  • Pool Games

Have a blast on Wednesdays and Fridays for an afternoon of pool games. Come splash around from 3 - 4:30 pm at the pool.
