Kiawah Island Golf Resort — The Kiawah Dining Collection
The resort now operates 16 distinct dining experiences across the island, from sunrise breakfasts to oyster roasts under the stars. Resort guests receive preferred pricing at all outlets when charging meals to their amenity card. The Ocean Room holds the distinction of being South Carolina's only Forbes Five-Star restaurant.

The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort
South Carolina's only Forbes Five-Star restaurant and the island's premier fine-dining destination. Features USDA prime beef, locally sourced produce, and an extensive wine list in an elegant oceanfront setting. The Sushi Lounge attached to The Ocean Room offers traditional sushi and small plates, classic cocktails, and craft beer — no reservations required for the lounge. Dinner service Tuesday–Saturday, 5:30–9:00 pm. Reservations required; collared shirt and tailored pants required for men. Indoor seating only.

A proud stop on the South Carolina BBQ Trail — the state that invented low-and-slow cooking. Top-quality meats smoked over local hardwoods with signature seasonings, plus more than 60 local, imported, draft, and craft beers. Fairway and lagoon views from the veranda. Open for lunch and dinner daily, 11:30 am–9 pm. Voted Best Mac & Cheese — don't skip it.
The Players' Pub
Cougar Point Clubhouse
A standout among the resort's casual restaurants. The dining room seats up to 125 guests; the pub and bar seats 31 more. A 4,354-square-foot covered deck offers gorgeous views of the lagoon and 18th green. Open for three meals a day. One of the best spots to linger over lunch before or after a round.

A poolside favorite with The Sanctuary pool and the Atlantic in full view. Brand new in 2026, The Perch is the resort's newest casual dining spot inside the Treehouse Activity Center. Crowd-pleasing favorites, including pizza and shareable appetizers, perfect for families. Guests can fuel up and then roll into bowling, a golf simulator, Skee-ball, shuffleboard, and more.
The Sanctuary's Beaches & Cream
Ice cream, frozen yogurt, candies, pralines, and sweets — including specialty "Magic Milkshakes" made with locally produced Wholly Cow all-natural ice cream. Adults-only versions prepared with a splash of alcohol are available. New seasonal milkshake flavors are introduced throughout the year.
Mingo Point Oyster Roast & BBQ (Seasonal)
A Kiawah tradition: wood-fired oysters, BBQ, and live music on the banks of the Kiawah River. One of the most memorable Lowcountry dining experiences on the island. Seasonal availability; check with the resort for event dates.

Freshfields Village Restaurants
Freshfields Village, located just outside Kiawah's security gate at the crossroads of Kiawah, Seabrook, and Johns Islands, is the primary dining hub for independent restaurants near the island. Seasonal hours apply — several restaurants reduce hours or close mid-week from December through February. Always confirm current hours before visiting in the off-season.
Hege's
French-inspired cuisine prepared with fresh local products. Small plates, traditional specialties, steaks, and prix-fixe menu options. Extensive catering options and private dining rooms are available for events. Dinner service only (Tuesday–Saturday).
La Tela Pizzeria
Locally owned Neapolitan-style pizzeria with a wood-fired oven and a pasta machine imported from Italy. All pasta, pizza dough, bread, and mozzarella are made in-house. Features eggs from pasture-raised South Carolina chickens, shrimp from South Carolina waters, and wine from a family-run vineyard in Piedmont, Italy. No reservations accepted — walk-ins welcome. Full bar; family-friendly al fresco dining in season.
Café Eugenia
(Expanded 2025)
A café, gourmet market, and event space named after Kiawah Island's historic avenue. Mediterranean-influenced menu with rotating salads, dips, cheese, and charcuterie boards, and takeaway prepared dishes. Bakery items include breads, sweets, and daily delights. Breakfast daily; gluten-free options available. Recently expanded into a second space, adding more takeaway options, plus cooking classes and specialty workshops. The new Sunroom is available for private gatherings, rehearsal dinners, and showers.
Forty Eight — A Wine Bar & Kitchen
(Now Forty Eight – Wine Bar & Kitchen)
A Freshfields institution for 5+ years. Forty-eight wines dispensed by the bottle via Wine Stations, plus 48 craft beers. Light Italian fare: cheese, charcuterie, bruschetta, flatbreads, paninis, salads, and desserts. Also home to two private event spaces: the Reserve Room and the Estate Room, each with separate entrances. Reservations recommended.
Java Java
Neighborhood café with specialty coffee drinks, pastries, soups, and sandwiches. Comfortable indoor and outdoor seating with wireless internet. A longtime Freshfields anchor and the founding concept behind the new Harvest restaurant.
Harvest
Health-forward café from Jaki DiGeronimo, the founder of Java Java. Menu features grain bowls, salads, smoothies, and cold-pressed juices, all made with thoughtfully sourced, nutrient-dense ingredients. Open Monday–Sunday, 8 am–4 pm. A welcome addition for health-conscious visitors.
Fuji Sushi Bar & Grill
Authentic Japanese cuisine: signature sushi rolls, traditional hibachi entrées, and creative Asian fusion dishes. Full bar with wine, beer, sake, and house-made cocktails. Modern, laid-back atmosphere with indoor and patio seating. Weekly specials and daily happy hour.
Cantina 76
Mexican taqueria and bar, open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Signature margaritas; salsa made from fresh, seasonal South Carolina vegetables. A lively, casual favorite for families and groups.
Vincent's Drug Store
Full-service drug store and old-fashioned soda fountain. Hand-dipped ice cream, milkshakes, and traditional sodas. Burgers, hot dogs, wraps, and chicken salad round out the menu — a nostalgic Freshfields experience.
The Station Deli
Breakfast and lunch, seven days a week (breakfast 6:30–11 am; lunch 11 am–3 pm). The bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast burrito is a local favorite. Lunch offers classic sandwiches, burgers, daily specials, and fresh grab-and-go items.
Bohicket Marina
Fischer's Sports Pub & Grill

Wild Olive
The #1-ranked restaurant in Johns Island on TripAdvisor. Simple, seasonal Italian cuisine spotlighting locally sourced ingredients, house-made pasta, and house-cured meats. Executive Chef Brad Grozis and GM Jason Parrish have guided the restaurant for over 17 years. The kitchen composts 1,000+ pounds of raw material weekly. Warm, lively atmosphere with an extensive wine list and craft beers. Dinner only, Monday–Thursday 5–10 pm; weekend hours vary. Reservations essential — books out quickly.
Minero
Johns Island's celebrated Mexican cantina from the Neighborhood Dining Group (also behind Husk and Delaney Oyster House). Known for house-made tortillas, slow-cooked meats, charcoal-grilled chicken wings, catfish tacos, acclaimed burritos, and a live-fire charcoal grill. Spacious indoor/outdoor bar with margaritas and an extensive tequila and mezcal list. Outdoor patio and rear deck with lawn games. Open for dinner nightly; Sunday brunch also offered. No reservations — come ready to wait or arrive early.
The Royal Tern
A fancy neighborhood seafood and steak eatery in the heart of Johns Island. Impressive raw bar program alongside seafood-forward entrées from Executive Chef Kyle Kryske — blackened swordfish, whole grilled fish, shellfish towers, and rock shrimp po' boys. Wood-fired steaks for non-seafood diners. Standout cocktail and wine program. Open for dinner Monday–Saturday, 5–9 pm; closed Sundays. Reservations recommended.
The Hemingway
Coffee, all-day breakfast sandwiches, paninis, and wine, with a focus on the highest-quality, locally sourced ingredients. A relaxed, cafe-style stop just off the island, next to Kinfolk.
KinFolk
No-frills local smokehouse specializing in chicken, ribs, and seasonal sides with soft-serve ice cream. Located just off the island, across the street from the Pam Harrington Exclusives offices on Betsy Kerrison Parkway — a reliable, satisfying stop.

Seasonal Hours & Planning Tips
- Most Freshfields Village restaurants run full hours from late spring through Labor Day. Several reduce hours or close mid-week from December through February. Always call ahead or check the restaurant's website during winter visits.
- Kiawah Island Golf Resort restaurants may have limited seasonal schedules for some outlets; the main resort dining venues (Ocean Room, Atlantic Room, Jasmine Porch, Cherrywood, Tomasso, Players' Pub) operate year-round.
- Peak season (June–July) means full restaurant capacity on weekends — especially at Freshfields. For a more relaxed dinner experience, May or September is ideal.
- Resort guests can charge meals at any Kiawah Island Golf Resort restaurant to their amenity card for preferred pricing.
- The Ocean Room requires reservations made 7 days in advance for non-Sanctuary guests; Sanctuary guests book via concierge at 877-683-1234.
