Memorial Day Weekend & Week Day Events on Kiawah Island and Seabrook Island
Every year, Charleston’s sea islands kick off Memorial Day weekend with live music, great food, poolside parties, and more. Here are a few of our islands’ summer traditions and festivities!
The Sunset Raw Bar at The Ryder Cup Bar | Kiawah Island
The Ryder Cup Bar hosts raw bar events throughout the year. However, their Memorial Day week event is always a spectacular occasion. Traditionally, The Ryder Cup Bar hosts raw bar events on Thursday evenings. The restaurant has offered live jazz guitarists and a full selection of raw bar specialties on the ocean view veranda. Fresh oysters on the half shell, shellfish shooters and ceviche, and craft cocktails are the restaurant’s specialty!
Thursdays at Jasmine Porch | Kiawah Island
Jasmine Porch always cooks up great dishes for the summer! The restaurant welcomes Memorial Day week with a carefully crafted menu. Last year, Jasmine Porch featured bone-in prime rib, slow cooked for 12 hours. If you are unable to attend this year’s Memorial Day week event, you can still look forward to dining specials every Thursday throughout the summer.
Family Seaside Buffet | Kiawah Island
Loggerhead is a true family favorite. Each year, the restaurant showcases an excellent buffet. Enjoy a wonderful array of local seafood, salads, meats, and delicious desserts as the sun sets over the Atlantic Ocean. For reservations, please contact Leisure Services at 843.768.6253.
Night Heron Poolside Grill and Bar | Kiawah Island
If you’re looking for a family-friendly party this Memorial Day weekend, then make your way to Night Heron Grill & Bar. Each year, the restaurant celebrates the holiday weekend with a poolside party, complete with live music and entertainment on the deck. You can look forward to a menu of delicious wraps, burgers, salads, sandwiches, and craft cocktails. This party also features a “build your ultimate ice cream sundae station.” What a sweet way to welcome summer!
Mingo Point Oyster Roast | Kiawah Island
Oyster roasts at Mingo Point are a beloved Lowcountry tradition, and Memorial Day weekend is always a special treat! This popular family outing features an all-you-can-eat buffet, live entertainment, a kids’ “cool-zone,” and educational exhibits about Kiawah Island’s wildlife. In addition to roasted oysters, you can indulge in a variety of Southern dishes, including ribs, pulled pork, smoked chicken, and more. Watch the dolphins swim and play while enjoying dinner, drinks, music, and fun.
Spring Fling Southern BBQ & Wine Tasting | Seabrook Island Equestrian Center
In years past, the Seabrook Island Equestrian Center has kicked-off Memorial Day weekend in a spectacular way — with fun, food, wine, horses, and live music! Menus have featured a variety of cuisine, such as barbeque, craft beer, and wine. Stay tuned, details for the 2019 event have yet to be announced!
Memorial Day Weekend Concert Series | Freshfields Village
Every year, Freshfields Village welcomes the summer season with two evenings of live music at the Memorial Day Weekend Concert Series. Live music begins on Friday evening and continues on Saturday afternoon. These concerts are free. Remember to bring a beach chair or blanket!
Starlight Cinema Wednesday | Freshfields Village
Another one of our favorite Freshfields Village events is the Starlight Cinema! This summer movie series takes place each Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. Bring your blanket and pack a picnic basket for a free movie under the stars. Movies are always family-friendly. For a full schedule, check the Freshfields Village event calendar.
