The Village Market by Harris Teeter
The most popular grocery store on Kiawah Island for both visitors and residents is The Village Market by Harris Teeter.
This full-service grocery store sits in the heart of Freshfields Village, conveniently located for Kiawah and Seabrook Island residents, lower Johns Island residents, and visitors. The roughly 38,000-square-foot store carries everyday essentials and specialty items, plus a full-service deli, bakery, a Starbucks, and beach essentials.
The Village Market is open daily, generally from early morning until late evening (around 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.), for all of your shopping needs. It also offers a great wine selection and a fresh seafood department for last-minute guests and entertaining. Hours can vary by season, so it's worth confirming before a late run. If you need help planning your meals for the week, use the Harris Teeter weekly ad, available in stores and online.

Cafe Eugenia at Freshfields
While not a traditional grocery store, Cafe Eugenia offers plenty of prepared foods for takeaway. Inspired by her grandmother's recipes and memories of growing up in the Lowcountry, owner Bea Shaffer Young brings Cafe Eugenia to life in Freshfields Village.
The Mediterranean-influenced menu focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients with a rotating selection of salads, dips, sandwiches, and takeaway meals. The bakery offers fresh sourdough and multi-grain breads, cookies, and other confections, with gluten-free options available. It's a great option for easy entertaining — grab a charcuterie board, house-special pickled shrimp, hummus, and a box of pistachio bars.
Cafe Eugenia serves breakfast, too, and recently added The Sunroom, an event space that hosts cooking classes, floral workshops, wine pairings, and private gatherings. The café is generally open Tuesday through Sunday; check their site for current hours and the full menu.

Rosebank Farms
Sidi Limehouse began Rosebank Farms before there was ever a grocery store near Kiawah Island. This iconic Johns Island farmer and his partner, Louise Bennett, have been offering fresh produce, seafood, and honey for decades.
In 2024, the farmstand moved to a permanent new home at the entrance to the Kiawah River community, at 5018 Kiawah River Drive, just off Betsy Kerrison Parkway. There you'll find seasonal fruits and vegetables grown on the farm, fresh-caught local seafood, eggs, honey, locally sourced cheeses, prepared foods, and the work of local Lowcountry artisans.
Read more in our Everything You Need to Know about Rosebank Farms blog here. Hours can shift with the seasons and the harvest, so it's best to check ahead before you go.

The Market at Storey Farms
A little further along Betsy Kerrison Parkway, Storey Farms is an open-air market featuring locally sourced products. If you're looking for an alternative to a traditional grocery store, this is the place — fresh eggs, cheeses, meats, and more.
Jeremy Storey left a position as a chef at a Michelin-starred Chicago restaurant for life in the country. His Johns Island farm raises free-range chickens, pork, and other ethically sourced products, and the market stocks poultry, pork, fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and pantry staples. Stop by and grab a chicken-and-veggie pie for dinner.
The Market at Storey Farms (4104 Betsy Kerrison Parkway) is open year-round, Tuesday through Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Check out their website for the latest.

The Nest Market & Cafe
If you're looking for a convenient grab-and-go option right on Kiawah Island, it doesn't get much easier than The Nest Market & Café. Located at Night Heron Park in the heart of the island (4000 Sea Forest Drive), The Nest replaced the former Market at Town Center.
This neighborhood market and café offers counter-service breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with prepared meals to take home and casual seating indoors or on the porch. It also stocks grocery basics, beer and wine, a "locals" specialty section, and logo apparel and gifts for the whole family. The Nest is open daily, generally from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. (some sources list 9 p.m.), so confirm before an evening visit.
