Osprey Point Golf Course: A Brief Overview

Osprey Point Golf Club was renovated in 2014 under the direction of the course architect, Tom Fazio. This undertaking converted all of the course greens, tees, and fairways to Paspalum, a salt-tolerant grass used at the Ocean Course. In addition, the bunkers were reconstructed to offer players a new challenge.

Now, the par 72 course features a variety of holes offering stimulating play and stunning surroundings. It has a near-perfect 4.5-star ranking in Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play” reader poll and is No. 11 on the magazine’s list of America's Top 50 Courses for Women.

Tee Up for a Day at Osprey Point Golf Course

Osprey Point was originally developed as a world-class, members-only course. Courses of this caliber are typically found in private club settings. However, now that Osprey Point is a part of Kiawah Island Golf Resort, visitors don’t face restrictive memberships and high fees to experience this elite course. When you visit Kiawah Island, you can spend a great day on the links, too!

1. Schedule a Tee Time and Start Your Day at the Osprey Point Pro Shop

The Osprey Point Pro Shop should be your first stop of the day.

You will find everything you need for a successful game including golf bags, balls, shoes, and tees, plus plenty of Kiawah Island merchandise and souvenirs.

2. Take Time to Enjoy the Scenery

The most notable characteristic of Osprey Point is the pristine landscape. Its maritime forests, lagoons, and saltwater marshes are breathtaking. Many guests liken a round of golf at Osprey Point to an exquisite nature walk.

The Charleston Golf Guide applauded architect Tom Fazio for using the lagoons, tidal creeks, and wetland areas on the course as natural hazards.

The guide then goes on to say, “Bottom line is, Osprey Point a visual treat, whether you have a golf club in your hand or not.”

3. Take Advantage of the Clubhouse After Your Round

After you finish your round, you’ll find another wonderful setting to enjoy: the Osprey Point Clubhouse. As a popular spot for special events and weddings, this beautiful facility features wide verandas overlooking the course. It is the perfect place to go for libations or a delicious meal to celebrate your hole-in- one.

When you dine at Cherrywood BBQ and Ale House, the Osprey Point Golf Course restaurant inside the clubhouse, try the mac and cheese. Award winning!
