Everything You Need to Know About Kamp Kiawah
Give yourself the freedom to enjoy a day on the golf course or a quiet morning by the pool while your kids spend a day at Kamp Kiawah. You’ll be glad you did!
Although reservations are not required during the summer season, it is still a good idea to call ahead and reserve your child’s place at Kamp Kiawah. Doing so will allow the camp staff to prepare their programs and ensure the proper counselor-to-camper ratio is maintained. It is also an easy way to save $5 off the cost of camp! To reserve your child’s place, call (843) 768-6001. Or, you can make a reservation in person at the Heron Park Nature Center, Turtles’ Nest Art Studio in West Beach, or at any concierge service desk.
Kamp Kiawah Programs
You will find a variety of Kamp Kiawah programs from which to choose. Children can attend in the morning, afternoon, or for a full day. No matter which program you choose, your child will enjoy a variety of activities, including nature walks, arts and crafts, beach games, tennis, and more! Then, they can return for Kids’ Night Out in the evenings for more activities, including s’mores, cookouts, and treasure hunts. With each program, campers are divided into groups based on their age. Each age group has a different camper-to-counselor ratio:
- 3 to 4 years old – 5:1
- 5 to 7 years old – 8:1
- 8 to 11 years old – 12:1
What to Bring to Camp
Most of the activities your kids will enjoy at Kamp Kiawah will be outside, rain or shine. Encourage your child to dress for the weather when getting ready for camp. From April through October, it’s recommended that children wear their bathing suit under their clothing. They’ll want to pack a towel and sunscreen, too! If your child is participating in a full-day camp, lunch will be provided.
New Programs for 2017
This year, Kamp Kiawah is offering a brand new program with 8- to 15-year-olds in mind: Camp Xtreme! At Camp Xtreme, your older children can participate in competitive sports, team building activities, STEM programs, and more. Activities include things like ultimate frisbee, relay races, a Ninja Obstacle Course, basketball and water balloon launching.
