MUSC Kiawah Seabrook Medical Pavilion – Comprehensive Emergency & Primary Care

The Sea Islands community — including Kiawah, Seabrook, and Johns Island — has reached a significant healthcare milestone with the opening of the MUSC Health Kiawah Seabrook Medical Pavilion. This world-class medical facility brings critical services close to home. This visionary project, led by the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC Health), local residents and community leaders represents a significant leap forward in meeting the growing medical needs of island residents, seasonal visitors, and families.

Located at 1857 Seabrook Island Road on Johns Island, the 12,056-square-foot medical center — affectionally known as the Sea Island's Medical Pavilion — provides convenient, high-quality care just minutes from Kiawah and Seabrook Islands, a dramatic improvement over the previous 30 to 45-minute travel to the nearest hospital.

MUSC Emergency Care on Seabrook and Kiawah Island — A New Era in Local Healthcare

A community-centered facility with comprehensive services:

Staffed by board-certified emergency physicians with trauma and fast-track triage rooms.

Advanced imaging and diagnostics available on site.

  • Helipad for Rapid Transport

Ensuring critical patients can be transferred efficiently to tertiary care when needed.

  • Primary Care & Specialty Clinics

Providing cardiology, orthopedics, physical and occupational therapy, and more — along with outpatient and telehealth services.

The Pavilion bridges a long-standing gap in emergency and routine medical care for island communities, addressing challenges of geographic isolation and a rapidly growing population, particularly among older adults.

Clinical services such as cardiology, orthopedics, and ENT services will be also available.

Locals will be able to receive physical therapy and occupational therapy services without traveling extensively.

The convenient access to additional health care services an urgent need for an aging Kiawah Island and Seabrook Island population and the growing Johns Island community.

Honoring the Harrington Family: A Legacy of Care

We are especially proud to recognize the Harrington family for their extraordinary support of community health. Pam Harrington, founder of Pam Harrington Exclusives Real Estate, and former healthcare professional, has a distinguished history of supporting local organizations and initiatives, particularly those focused on health and well-being.

Through their generous philanthropy and advocacy, the Emergency Services Center at MUSC Health Kiawah Seabrook Medical Pavilion has been named in their honor — a lasting tribute to their commitment to saving lives and strengthening health care for all in the Sea Islands region.

"Access to quality healthcare is essential for a thriving community," said Pam Harrington. "I am honored to support MUSC in their efforts to establish a comprehensive medical pavilion on Kiawah Island. This facility will not only provide much-needed services but also contribute to the overall well-being of our community."

The Harrington family’s legacy of impactful giving and community engagement has uplifted health initiatives nationwide, and their support here underscores how strategic philanthropy can transform access to critical care.
