YALLFEST (or The Charleston Young Adult Book Festival) is the world’s largest young adult book festival. For two days in historic, downtown Charleston, writers from the young adult genre gather for panels and book signings! Most events are free and open to the public.  Attend this festival to hear from your favorite authors and find your new favorite book! This event is a can’t-miss event for bookworms!

The Charleston Museum’s 250th Anniversary special exhibition presents the history of the Museum’s archaeological research, highlighting important projects from the past seven decades. The collections on exhibit are also the subject of new studies by outside researchers, using methods ranging from C14 dating to stable isotope analysis. Such pathbreaking studies are the reason to curate archaeological collections. Join Curator Martha Zierden for a history of past excavations and new discoveries.

Start Thanksgiving Day off right with Charleston’s oldest 5k race! The race begins and ends in Marion Square with a party waiting at the finish line. Challenge yourself to beat your best time and celebrate with free drinks and food at the finish line. You can also jam out to live music after the race or simply cheer on your friends and families along the way. There is also a children’s race for little ones who want to take part in the fun!

John’s Island November Events


November 4, 2023 11 am to 5 pm

Celebrate fall with festival-style fun at Johns Island County Park. Dance to bluegrass-style live music, hop aboard a hayride, try your hand at archery, and get creative painting a pumpkin. A craft market will also be featured where you can stroll the stalls and perhaps even find a few holiday gifts.

Hungry? Soothe your appetite with southern-style favorites including Carolina barbecue and festival staples.

The Harvest Festival is known for its showcase of Charleston’s own bluegrass talent, with local bands playing throughout the day. This year’s entertainment lineup is:
