Lowcountry Cajun Festival
Enjoy Cajun cuisine with a Lowcountry twist at this food festival. This event takes place at James Island Country Park on Friday, April 3, and is just $15 per person (children ages 12 and under are free). The Lowcountry Cajun Festival is fun for the whole family, with live music, kid-friendly games, a crawfish-eating contest, and plenty of delicious Southern cuisine. Try authentic jambalaya or etouffee, or sample area delicacies like locally caught seafood or South Carolina barbecue.
Cooper River Bridge Run
Whether you’ll be running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, the Cooper River Bridge Run on Saturday, April 4, is a fun time for all. The starting line for this famous race is in Mt. Pleasant on Coleman Boulevard. From there, participants cross the beautiful Ravenel Bridge before finishing in downtown Charleston. Once you’ve completed the race, it’s time to celebrate. The Finish Festival at Marion Square features live entertainment, food and drink, and local vendors.

Volvo Car Open
Every spring, Daniel Island hosts the largest women’s tennis tournament in the world. This year’s Volvo Car Open (formerly known as the Family Circle Cup) will be held from Saturday, April 4 through Sunday, April 12, 2020. This year is extra special, as the tournament is celebrating 20 years of athletic excellence in Charleston.
Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival
If you have the opportunity to attend the annual Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park, then we suggest you do so. It’s the perfect chance to support the local fishing and shrimping industry. This year, the event is on Sunday, April 26. Your family will enjoy listening to live music and watching the boat parade. If you’re searching for souvenirs, check out the craft show featuring local artisans. Plus, feast on plenty of local seafood. If you’re feeling competitive, try your hand at the shrimp-eating contest or the shag dance competition.
Mullet Haul Trail Run
The Mullet Haul Trail Run is another fun race taking place in April. Head to Johns Island County Park on Saturday, April 25, for a 5k or 10k run. Afterward, relax with food, cold drinks, and music.
Kiawah Island & Seabrook Island Events in April
Blues by the Sea
Head over to Freshfields Village on Sunday, April 19, for the annual Blues by the Sea music festival. This outdoor concert features a variety of blues acts. Best of all, it’s pet-friendly and admission is free, though food and drink will be available for purchase.
Kiawah Island House and Art Tour
The 20th Annual Kiawah Island House and Art Tour takes place on the afternoon of Friday, April 3. During the tour, you’ll see five gorgeous Kiawah homes. Each property is distinct with its own unique art style and breathtaking views of the island. Tickets are $55, and you can enter a raffle to win a beautiful oil painting from a Charleston artist.
Bohicket Marina Dolphin Slam
Anglers won’t want to miss out on the annual Bohicket Dolphin Slam Tournament. This year’s competition takes place on Saturday, April 25, at Bohicket Marina. All participants get free dockage for their boat, and there is a $200 entry fee per boat. First place wins $2,400, which isn’t bad for a day’s work.
