What You Need to Know About Kiawah Island Jazz Festival
About the Event
Earl Klugh’s Weekend of Jazz is one of the greatest highlights of fall in the Charleston area. Year after year, this one-of-a-kind event reminds us to get outside, have some fun, and enjoy the last few warm days of the year. It is a four-day affair that kicks off midweek at the beginning of November, inviting guests to take a long weekend and relax before the business of the holiday season. Live music begins on Wednesday night. After that, it’s up to you to decide how you want to celebrate.
Choose Your Jazz Festival Experience
In addition to nights filled with music and dancing, you can also attend special events to enhance your experience. Popular festival activities include wine tasting, yoga classes, and cooking demonstrations; these add-on packages are available only to those staying at the Kiawah Island Resort. However, if you are looking for a more laid back experience that allows you to enjoy the music and spend your time without a schedule, you may prefer the ease of a Kiawah Island beach home.
If you want to experience Jazz Festival Weekend like the locals, some other nearby activities you may like include:
- Free wine tasting every Tuesday at FortyEight Wine Bar in Freshfields Village.
- Spirit tasting every Friday and Saturday at Kiawah Spirits.
- Free entrance to The Angel Oak, an ancient oak tree that is estimated to be 500 years old and stands more than 65 feet tall!
- Day trips to downtown Charleston. The city is a scenic, 40-minute drive away from Kiawah Island. Some popular (and free) attractions include visiting Rainbow Row and the Historic Market. November is also an excellent time for a carriage tour through the city!
With an event as exciting and carefree as the Earl Klugh Jazz Festival 2019, the last thing you need is a strict schedule. Enjoy the activities above at your own pace. And, remember your copy of our free Kiawah Island Vacation Guide for more recommendations on how to make the most of your time!
