Reviving the Kiawah River - Community partnership restores vital oyster habitats. Kiawah’s marshes are among the island’s most valuable natural resources, and local entities are working together to restore a key marsh species: oysters. More than providing a tasty meal for marsh animals and humans, oyster restoration has demonstrable benefits, including preventing erosion, restoring marsh grasses, and improving water quality.

Mother and son Lowcountry residents have teamed up to build 11 new townhomes on Seabrook Island, a private, gated community located between Kiawah Island and Edisto Beach. The Inlet at Seabrook Island was permitted to have more than double the townhomes constructed. The developers, Paula and Keith Murphy, want to prioritize preservation of the live oak corridor and surrounding wetlands, Keith Murphy, architect with Island Architects, said in a news release.

The PGA of America announced that The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Kiawah Island, South Carolina, will host the 2031 PGA Championship. Additionally, the 2029 Girls and Boys Junior PGA Championships will be contested at The Ocean Course and Turtle Point Golf Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
